A Family Crest Is Not a Resume
My family has a coat of arms. It belongs in the background, not in a sales pitch.
My family has a coat of arms that goes back a long way. It has a dove, a beehive, a helmet, and plenty of other details I could not fully explain if you put me on the spot.
I like it because it connects me to my family history. That is enough.
It does not make me more qualified to advise someone, build a product, or run a business. A name, a crest, or an old family story cannot do the work for you. If somebody presents any of that as a credential, they are probably trying too hard.
I keep the crest around because it is part of where I come from. My parents came to the United States from Sweden, and I am glad to have a small reminder of that history. It can live on a piece of stationery or in a corner of this site. It does not need a speech attached to it.
