Guitar

Guitar was my first love.

In fourth grade my mom made a deal with me: if I kept a B average I could have an electric guitar. She kept her promise and I've been playing ever since.

I play electric guitar, mostly neoclassical and blues.

Electric guitar

Self-taught from the start

I started completely self-taught. One summer afternoon, my grandfather Bengt Björklund gave me a guitar lesson. He was a country musician in Malmö, and I have always been inspired by him.

I taught myself with YouTube and kept pushing toward harder pieces. In high school I worked through “Eruption” and Paganini's 5th Caprice. Lately I have been learning “Scuttle Buttin'” by Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I also enjoy heavier music, especially the classic side of it, including “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath. My guitar heroes include Eddie Van Halen, Jake E. Lee, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Steve Vai.

Repertoire

  • Caprice No. 5 in A minor

    Niccolò Paganini

From the 24 Caprices, Op. 1. Written for solo violin; played here on electric guitar.

  • Rising Force

    Yngwie Malmsteen

Neoclassical metal, from Malmsteen's 1988 album Odyssey.

  • Scuttle Buttin'

    Stevie Ray Vaughan

Texas blues instrumental from Couldn't Stand the Weather (1984).

My setup

REAPER, AmpliTube, and ML Sound Lab

I mainly use REAPER as my DAW with AmpliTube and ML amplifier plugins. My REAPER presets document the signal chain.

Peavey 6505+ and Marshall JCM900 4×12

My amp is a 120W Peavey 6505+ with a Marshall JCM900 4×12 cabinet.
